The lack of crowds and people is an added bonus. If possible, spend a weekend at a Sea Ranch vacation rental. This community originally idealized and built in the 1960s has one-of-a-kind architecture that blends into the natural landscape.

Then there's the Andre Balazs-designed monolith, The Standard hotel, jutting into the sky line with its voyeuristic see-through glass facade. Thankfully there's still some original Meatpacking District touches to the 'hood (the random, abandoned tricycle next to the half-empty beer bottle and the colorful artwork too calculated to be deemed graffiti) that makes a stroll through the streets a fun photographic adventure.
